BIO

Alex Bolling is a Senior Advisor to FLG, where he specializes in security, technology, and international business operations. With a career spanning over 3 decades in leadership positions across business and the Intelligence Community, Alex provides strategic advice and action in complex issues at the intersection of technology, security, business, policy, and law.

Prior to joining FLG, Alex held the position of Executive Director of Security Consulting at Thornesec, leading its security functions and cyber policy. He served 28 years in the CIA’s Directorate of Operations as Chief of Station and Deputy Chief of Station in several war zones in the Middle East, North Africa, and Southwest Asia. He has worked closely with the US military, law enforcement, and local partners to achieve desired results. Alex was Chief of Operations of the CIA’s Center for Cyber Intelligence (CCI)  where he was responsible for orchestrating multi-disciplined cyber collection against counterterrorist, counter proliferation, and counterintelligence targets.

Alex is the recipient of the Intelligence Star, the Intelligence Commendation Medal, the Director of National Intelligence National Intelligence Award, and the Distinguished Service Intelligence Medal. He is a member of The Cipher Brief Expert Network and contributor on topics of national security, including counterterrorism, cyber threat, and insider threat mitigation. 

EDUCATION

Alex received his B.A. in Political Science from the Virginia Commonwealth University and is a Senior Executive Fellow at Harvard University.
